how this site is organized

This site has four different portals to navigate. A portal is a path through the site. These portals have been created to ensure that people with different interests and disabilities can find similar content and not miss important parts of the narrative or valuable information.

Storyline: This section linearly tells the story of the Jordans as depicted in The Ties That Bind Film Documentary. Navigating this section can be done by clicking the next and back buttons. At the end of each chapter there are related links, books, videos, worksheets, polls, discussions, events and stories. A new chapter will be released every three months starting in the winter of 2003 until the fall of 2004.

Topics and Issues: This section pulls important topic issues out of the main story of The Ties That Bind Film Documentary. Each one of these nine topics is contained on a single page and also correlates to related information in a column on the right hand side.

Explore: This interface is an animated site map that uses Flash technology. It allows you to see all the content at once under the headings of People, Video, Your Stories, Discussions, Events, Polls, Worksheets, Articles and Books and Links. This interface is navigable using key commands. All the content in this interface can be found in simple HTML format in alternative areas of the site or in the Site Map Pages in the Search and Ask section.

Search and Ask: This section allows you to search using key words or browse specific items in the Site Map Pages. There is a form where you can reach PLAN Institute to ask specific questions about the site using email. As the site grows Frequently Asked Questions can also be found in this section.
