Of all the ties that bind, family may be the strongest. Parents and siblings
are often the ones we lean on the most when times gets tough. And while
there are always stresses and strains within any family, if yours includes
children with disabilities these challenges can sometimes seem overwhelming.
The good news is that there are many resources for parents and siblings
of people with special needs at every stage of life. Besides all of the

The Child Care Law Center educates parents about their child care rights
under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Family Caregiver
Alliance
Support organization for families caring for loved ones with chronic,
disabling health conditions.
Family Voices
Advocacy group for families who have children with special needs. Also
includes caregivers, professionals, and friends whose lives have been
touched by these children and their families.
Special Link Canada
National Centre for Child Care Inclusion seeks to provide and share resources
for including children with special needs in "mainstream" child
care programs. The site provides links to current research projects and
publications and other resources.
